District Vision: Every day, every NPS student is actively being equipped with the skills and knowledge necessary to become a contributing member of their community, while being highly prepared to thrive in life, and pursue their career or college aspirations upon graduation.

Superintendent’s Message

Dear Parents, Guardians, Colleagues, and NPS Partners,

We have much to be proud of as the 2024-25 school year has come to a close. Our efforts toward educational equity are starting to reap results in many of our schools. SBA scores and Benchmark Assessmennts are showing some positive trends and over 86% of the Class of 2025 graduated with college credits. This will save families over $1.4 million in tuition costs! Did you know we are at the top of the state in the number college credit courses we offer at NHS?

Our staff continue to work diligently to meet the needs of our diverse population. I know you will join me in thanking them for their tireless efforts.

I hope everyone has a relaxing summer and comes back refreshed and ready to hit the ground running on August 25. Convocation will be August 27 @ 8:00 a.m..

Be Well,
Dr. B.

"Teachers Go the Extra Mile for Their Students Every Day"
The Connecticut Education Association has just been honored with a Prestigious National Award, the Telly Award, for its public awareness campaign, Teachers Go the Extra Mile for Their Students Every Day. This recognition places the campaign alongside work from national leaders like ESPN, National Geographic, and Netflix, and it’s a powerful tribute to the heart, commitment, and professionalism of educators across our state.

This campaign was especially meaningful for Newington because it was filmed right here at Martin Kellogg Middle School, with the participation of Newington staff and parents, and the inclusion of several of our own teachers, including Antwanette Serrano, Jeff Helming, and Jen Rodriguez.

NHS School Based Health Center Open House
A ribbon cutting ceremony for the Integrated Health Services (IHS) School Based Health Center, located at NHS, was held on Tuesday, April 29, 2025. In attendance at the open house was President and CEO of IHS Sherry Linton-Massiah, State Pepresentatives Gary Turco and Kate Farrar, Board Vice Chair Jessica Weaver, Mayor Jon Tristor, Town Manager Jonathan Altshul, and many other attendees.

The School Based Health Center is staffed with a Nurse Practitioner and a Social Worker who can provide mental and physical healthcare to students. The goal of the center is to provide care to all students, regardless of income or health care coverage. It is an incredible resource to have at Newington High School.
